21 Quotes to Inspire Love

The most important present you can ever give to another – and to yourself – is the gift of love.

Without strings.  Without conditions.  Without judgments.

Just pure love and acceptance.

Of course, day-to-day occurrences can push our buttons in so many different ways.  But, whatever tensions arise, let’s do all we can to stay spacious and reconnect with our heart.

  1. Unconditional love is the greatest gift one human can give to another. It is what motivates and validates us. It is what drives and inspires us.

Unfortunately, since most love tends to come with strings or conditions it is also quite rare.

    • Yes, it is rare! I’m trying to inch in that direction more and more. It seems like one of our most important opportunities in this life.

  2. A Course in Miracles teaches that there are only two emotions–love and fear. And fear is simply the mistaken perception of separation from love. So really there is only love.

  3. (Thank you for your generous gift, Sandra. Here’s another, for you and yours.)

love is the every only god

who spoke this earth so glad and big
even a thing all small and sad
    man,may his mighty briefness dig

    for love beginning means return
seas who could sing so deep and strong

one queerying wave will whitely yearn
from each last shore and home come young

    so truly perfectly the skies
    by merciful love whispered were,
completes its brightness with your eyes

    any illimitable star

Gratitude is the memory of the heart. ~ Jean Baptiste Massieu

  5. Gratitude is like a ray from the sun of love. Thank you.

  6. Thanks for the gift of these quotes, Sandra. May I offer one?
“”You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection.” Buddha

  7. Beautiful! Thanks for your contribution. It looks like you are having an enjoyable holiday with all the recipes for “goodies” you’ve been offering on your site lately! I hope so.

  8. Hi Sandra,

I think few would disagree that love is the most important present you can give to another. Having said that, love without strings, conditions and judgements may be a tad difficult for most. Even so, it is a worthy ideal to strife for. That way, if you fall short, you would still have love and given more of yourself than you would have otherwise in the first place. It’s not a matter of failing in any case, it’s a matter of picking yourself up each time and trying to do better.

I love the list of love quotes you’ve put together. My favourite are:

“We need 4 hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth.” – Virginia Satir

“One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life — that word is love.” – Sophocles

I would just like to add the following quote on love.

Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible — it cannot be seen or measured, yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment, and offer you more joy than any material possession could. -Barbara De Angelis

Thank you for sharing this lovely article and Merry Xmas to you and your family! 🙂

  9. Irving,

Yes, it’s a huge aspiration to love others without judgments and conditions and to love our self in the same way. I like your perspective that at least giving it a shot will get closer than not trying at all! And like you said, there is no real failing, there’s just continuing.

Thank you for this beautiful quote from Barbara De Angelis. I feel so gifted by you and others who have commented.

Merry Christmas to you and yours as well. May all be bright!

  10. Hi Sandra,

Only one the true love in this World, He came to be human just for us. The holy one to replace us.
without Him we are nothing and can not find the true love. The tru love is forgiveness without conditions. We can not forgive another, because we all sinners.

Thank you for this . I feel so gifted by you and others who have commented.
Merry Christmas to you and yours as well. May all be bright!
