Do you agree, when you say less, you will be heard more? I would love to hear your thoughts on his brief essay.

Briefly, yes
Really?
Succinctly, I agree totally in written and spoken word.
Yes!
I’m going to state it a different way than I have here before. It’s a vertical vs. horizontal choice. The news is published daily and even hourly. It is a long series of repetitions with slight variations. Most people hear the news in some fashion. It mostly produces conversation and blog posts.
A decent novel, play, screenplay or book of poetry takes between months and years to write. They are read by far fewer than the news. They change lives permanently.
Those are the two poles socially shared writing move between. You can put yourself anywhere you like in that continuum. It’s better to make your choice intentionally.
Ahhhh, intention! I think that’s part of Raam Dev’s thought process too.
I like MIkey’s comment. It’s not a value judgment that less is always better. It’s a value judgment about using our judgment to make choices that bring value! The contrast between the news and a novel provides a vivid example.
I agree and I think this is Raam’s point too. His emphasis is on quality.
Hi Sandra! For a while, I was posting every day, and 2 things happened to me. 1.) I got exhausted and brain-cramped (keep in mind I was writing longer blog posts), and 2.) I didn’t get a lot of comments. Not that it’s all about comments, but it seemed that the moment I’d start picking up steam, I would post something new and my last post would get lost.
So for the sake of conversation, I changed to a 2-3 times per week approach, with one being a guest post. This changed the commenting. Suddenly, people were commenting more, and I was free to write as much as I wanted about something.
I’m curious to read your thoughts.
Bryan,
It’s always interesting to hear different people’s experience! Brain-cramped doesn’t sound so enjoyable. I have the same feeling as you that posts get “lost” when we post too frequently. I feel sad that some of the my elegant writing seems to dissolve so quickly into the mists! Ah, impermanence. It seems like you discovered a good approach that works for you and engages your readers. I’m glad you shared your experience with us. Experimenting like this really gives us a feel for the right direction.
Guess we are already too overwhelmed by constant information inputs… say less is definitely best!…
Generally, I agree to not to write too much on your blog to the extent of “over” blogging. Leaving a succinct and clear message in your blog is important. Having said that, I think it is a balancing act. Ideally, you blog only when you have something to write about, which will be beneficial to the audiences.
